HB233, Amendments to Children’s Mental Health Act will go into effect July 1, 2021
HB233, Amendments to Children’s Mental Health Act will go into effect July 1, 2021. ICAP was supportive of this legislation.
https://legislature.idaho.gov/ses.../2021/legislation/H0233/ seeks to bring together children’s mental health services and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare to provide services without removing a child from the custody of the parents.
The Governor and Director Jeppesen both indicated that they are hopeful this bill will fix the issue of families entering the Child Protection system when they are trying to access mental health care.
They asked that Representative Marco Erickson participate on the creation team for the interagency agreement required in the bill and then give feedback on the success of their efforts to keep kids out of child protection custody.
